Julie Christofferson, BMu, MMu, AdCE
Julie Christofferson currently serves as the Fine Arts Specialist for Nebo School District in Spanish Fork, Utah. Prior to that position she served as Fine Arts and Healthy Lifestyles Consultant for Jordan School District in Sandy, Utah for 7 years.
She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education from Brigham Young University and an Administrative Endorsement earned through the University of Utah. In addition to duties at the District Office she has served as Chair of the Utah State Solo & Ensemble Festival, Coordinator of Bands for the Days of 47′ Parade and Administrative Director of the Jordan Symphony Orchestra and Nebo Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. She taught instrumental music at both Jordan and West Jordan High Schools for a total of 15 years and is a former director of the West Jordan City Band. She has served as the Band Vice-President and President. Prior to her work in the Jordan School District Office she served as an Assistant Principal at both Bingham and Jordan High Schools.
Ms. Christofferson currently serves as the Music Director of the Murray Symphony Orchesra, Past President of the Utah Music Educators Association and she is on the Education Board of Artistic Resource for Teachers and Students. She also served 4 years on the National Federation of High Schools Music Committee, representing Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. She has served as a clinician, guest conductor and music adjudicator for several years.
In 1986 she was named Teacher of the Year at West Jordan High School and received a special Marching Band Director’s Award during the Edmonton Klondike Days Celebration in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In February 2002 she was recognized by the Utah Music Educators Association as Outstanding Administrator for the school year 2000-2001.
Ms. Christofferson is a trumpet player who has performed with the Utah Symphony, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Mormon Youth Symphony, Murray Symphony, Salt Lake Symphony, Northern Utah Honor Band and several other groups. She currently performs with the Top Brass Quintet and Gabriel (trumpet ensemble). She enjoys golf and composing and arranging music. Julie is married and the mother of two wonderful children.
